Today’s post wasn’t supposed to be a tag…
But since all the posts I wanted to publish before this one were taking too much time to write, here we are. I’m really excited to do this tag though!! I’m pretty sure most of us are now used to the Quarantine Life, so what better way to celebrate our assimilation than with a quarantine-themed book tag? Thank you so much to Rhi @ Marshmallow Harmonies for tagging me!! She has an amazing blog aesthetic, gives great book recommendations, and is super friendly—please go follow her. 🥺

What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading two things!!
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation by 墨香铜臭– This is a Chinese BL (another term for m/m) web novel that’s been translated to English. I’ve heard such good things about it, particularly the main couple!! Like, you will not believe the fanbase this book has attracted and the amount of fan content there is for it. So far, I’m not Obsessed yet, but I really hope I will be, because it’s been a long time since I’ve truly felt for a ship. Also, this is the book that the c-drama The Untamed is based on, and I really love The Untamed!!
The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow– I’m listening to this one on audio, and I’m not that far in to give my thoughts on it yet. I love the sci-fi aspect though. And I already know that it’s gonna heavily focus on the value of art. This is also by a Black author, and the main character is fat, Black, and biromantic demisexual!
What’s your favorite can’t-leave-the-house activity?
I mean, reading and blogging obviously. I also kill time/procrastinate by watching music and BookTube videos on YouTube.
(I’m boring and don’t have a lot of hobbies okay. 😭)
I’ve been working out though!! I just finished Chloe Ting‘s 25-day slim thigh challenge, and I’m gonna start her 2 week shred tomorrow (or rather, today, because this post is going up at 1AM Philippine time…). I wouldn’t call exercising an enjoyable activity, but knowing that I’m doing something good for my body does give me a burst of serotonin. 😌
A book you’ve been meaning to read forever?
I listened to a few chapters of it on audio, but had to put it down since I had more pressing books to get to. I’m hoping to finally get to it this month. It’s not even that long; the audiobook is only seven hours, and I listen at 2x speed, so I’ll have to be canceled if I don’t finish it soon.
An intimidating book on your TBR?
Again, a lot!! But I’ll go with The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. There is so much hype for this book, and I’ll be SO disappointed if I don’t like it.
Also, I know how it ends.
I know. It’s based on mythology—anyone who knows mythology probably knows how it ends. But still!! I’m worried that knowing how it ends will somehow ruin the reading experience. :((
Top three priority books on your TBR?
My TBR is a mess right now, and I have about 10 books on my priority TBR. Here are three of them:
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery– This is up there with WTFOH when it comes to “why haven’t I read this yet??” levels. By now, I have no excuse. My crops will flourish and my skin will clear when I finally cross this book off my TBR.
The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutkoski– I am finally reading Marie Rutkoski’s new f/f book!! This has gotten mixed reviews, but I’m cautiously optimistic because I enjoyed the Winners Trilogy.
You Should See Me in Crown by Leah Johnson– In my opinion, we should promote and read books about Black joy as much as we do books about Black pain, and I think this book is one of the former. I originally wasn’t gonna read it because the premise didn’t intrigue me, but the good reviews have changed my mind. Plus, sapphic romance!!
Recommend a short book?
On Goodreads, it says that Heartstopper is 278 pages. But it’s a graphic novel, and I promise it’ll go by super quickly. 🥺 While reading this book, you’ll probably tell yourself “just one more page,” only to end up reading five. The story is so cute, fluffy, and happy, despite having a trigger warning for an abusive relationship.
You can even read Volume 1 and all the other volumes online for free! (Yes, legally.)
Recommend a long book?
The Priory of the Orange Tree is a high fantasy featuring an f/f romance, and it’s very famous for its length (almost 900 pages).
I know many of you are intimidated by it, but I say just go for it! It’s best if you allow yourself to take a long time to finish this book—don’t rush it like I did. In many ways, it’s a quintessential high fantasy. But this time, the women are the ones saving the world.
Something you’d love to do while stuck at home?
WORK ON MY WIP!! I have a story idea that needs fleshing out, so that I can finally start drafting it. Caitlin stop daydreaming about your OCs and actually write about them challenge.
What do you plan on reading next?
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz– A gay classic!! I actually read this book a long time ago and didn’t like it. But my taste back then is very different from my taste now, and I’m excited to see what I think about this upon reread.
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern– I’ve actually read a couple pages of this already, and I’m so intrigued! This is the last book on my 5-star predictions TBR, and since I haven’t rated any of the other books on that TBR 5 stars, I’m tentatively hoping that this’ll be the one I do.
I hope this post was still coherent and enjoyable to read!! I drafted it at 12AM, which is when my brain stops working.
