The Behind the Blogger Tag // In Which I Discuss Things You Didn’t Know About Me & My Pet Peeves

Only the OGs will remember when my sidebar bio’s heading was “The Girl Behind the Blog.”

Seeing the title of this tag made me remember my old sidebar bio, haha. Anyways, the wonderful Xandra @ Starry Sky Books tagged me in the Behind the Blogger tag last month. And I was so happy because this tag looks like so much fun! I love answering tags where I get to talk about myself, so if you wanna know more about me, this post is gonna make the both of us happy!

Also, can we just appreciate the fact that I’m actually doing something I was tagged in on time?

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag

Why did you start blogging? & Why have you kept blogging?

A lot of reasons. I’ve always been interested in having a platform on the Internet where I can yell about anything that catches my interest as I please. Also, I knew starting a book blog would make me read a lot more books. And lastly, I kinda wanted to make money through a blog, but… I’ve realized now that the chances of me making any substantial income from blogging are very close to none.

As for why I’ve kept blogging, it’s the community. I’ve met so many people who have changed my life for the better through blogging, and as a major introvert in real life, it makes me so happy to have a group of friends on the Internet. ❤️

What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

My favorite type of post to write used to be monthly wrap-ups, actually, but not anymore for some reason. I’d say that my current favorite is actually posts like this, where I get to talk about myself.

I realize how shallow that sounds, but it’s true! I love answering questions about myself. There’s just something about doing Q&A-like posts that makes me very happy.

What are your top three favorite blog posts?

Ah, this is hard! I love (and don’t love) all of my posts for a bunch of different reasons! But if I had to choose, I’d go with these:

What are some of your favorite things to do to relax?

Do I ever relax?

I guess I just do nothing—or do stuff that aren’t real-life things™, like blogging, reading, maybe watching YouTube, etc. I also watch asmr videos—this particular one is so satisfying to me for some reason!

And of course, I sleep, because I can’t get stressed while I’m sleeping. 🙃

What are three of your favorite things?

  1. Food! I love pastries, junk food, pizza, ramen—a whole lot of food. Nothing tops the feeling of eating a particularly good meal.
  2. Books! Of course.
  3. The Internet! Say what you want about the Internet, but I don’t know what I’d do without it. The Internet has been my best friend throughout accomplishing homework assignments, studying for a subject that has a useless teacher, and most of all, it’s given me an opportunity to connect with people that I never could’ve without it.

What are your proudest blogging moments?

Reaching 500 blog followers! I will always be grateful for all the engagement I received in my first year of blogging. ❤️

Winning Best New Blogger in the 2019 Book Blogger Awards! I will never get over the fact that people nominated and voted for me to win this award. I just get irrationally happy whenever someone says that they like my blog, or me, and I feel like the most undeserving human being alive (but in a good way). 😭❤️

But even though I’m super proud of myself for accomplishing both of the things above, they’re not the blogging achievements I’m most proud of. I’m proud of myself simply for having this blog and growing with it. This blog is literally my baby!!

What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

I hate answering questions like this because I’m not that interesting okay!! I usually just answer reading or playing table tennis. But to spice things up a bit: sleeping, eating, and playing with my dog Gordon. Here’s a gif I made of me high-fiving him!

Describe your personality in three words.

OMG, I absolutely suck at describing myself! But here goes:

🌟 Introverted, Overachiever*, Messy** 🌟

*personality-wise, not habit-wise, unfortunately

**habit and personality-wise, unfortunately

What are your top three pet peeves?

I’m one of the most easy to annoy people alive, so this is gonna be hard. 😅

People who think you’re joking when you’re legitimately mad at them. I would like these people to suffer for the high blood pressure they give me!!! When I tell you to stop and I’m not smiling, maybe you should stop what you’re doing and not take my anger as a joke, you know?

People who answer a rhetorical question with an actual, very obvious answer, like:

Person: Ugh, why am I here?

Annoying person: Because you drove here.

Thanks!!!! I did not know that before you kindly informed me!!

And, changing the right answer on a test. I will never get over how devastated this makes me. 😫

What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

I just said that I’ve always been interested in having a platform on the Internet dedicated to whatever interests me. Well, I had multiple platforms like that in the past—one of them being an Instagram slime account.

Yes, you read that right—slime. Slime was all the rage when I was in Grade 7, and like a lot of kids in my year level, I slowly became obsessed with watching videos of it and making it, which led me to start filming slime videos for Instagram. 😭 Thinking about the amount of time and money I wasted on slime makes me shudder. (But, I still watch videos of it sometimes because I’m trash…)

Tagging these wonderful people! (Sorry if you’ve done this or been tagged already 😅):

What are some of the most shocking facts about you? What are your pet peeves?

  1. Beautiful, thank you SO much for nominating me! I always get all emotional answering this kind of questions lol (Hufflepuff 24/7)
I really want to mention that I think you’re an incredible blogger and you deserve ALL the love and recognition for your work, I’m such a fan here!❤️
Gordon is the sweetest, OMG, love him!! 🥰
I think we have all started blogging for a reason and we have ended up staying for the community, it’s really full of wonderful and supportive people & Food, Books and the Internet? BEST COMBO 😍

    1. Aww, I can’t wait to see your answers!! ❤ Everything you write is amazing!
THANK YOU SO MUCH 😭❤ that's a lot coming from you, because I think that you're one of the most incredible bloggers out there ❤
Ahh, he's so cute I love him! And I think we all stayed because of the community as well! The online bookish community is *AMAZING* and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it 💖 And yes, that is the best combo—facts only!

  2. Some of my top pet peeves are slow people walking in groups in front of you hence blocking the entire hallway/footpath, it’s stationEry not stationAry, ‘oh I love x’ but they’re referring to the movie and have zero knowledge of the book said movie was based on. Hahaha slime certainly was all the rage awhile back, and kinda still is. I like writing posts answering questions about myself too; I’m not too sure why though haha it’s just fun I guess?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. As a slow walker myself, I feel kinda bad whenever people complain about slow walkers 😂 But I have encountered my fair share of slow walkers myself, and I get how they’re super annoying, especially if you can’t overtake them because they’re blocking the entire hallway!
Wait, there’s a stationary and stationery? Wow, I’m a failure of a grammar nerd. I’m assuming that one refers to the letter, and the other means “not moving” lmao
Omg, the slime trend was cringey in some ways because most of the people taking part in it were cringey 11 year olds (me), and the Instagram slime community was so filled with drama, it was wHACK.
Same! I’m not sure why, but it’s just super fun!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Like I’m fine with it if people are willing to move over so you can overtake haha but in big groups that block the hallway/footpath so that the only way to overtake is risk getting run over I hate it. Yes haha, a surprising amount of people seem to not realise huh.

  3. Love this! I love learning more about you 🙂 Gordon is the cutest, but so are you with your slime account?! I think I missed that rage, but I must look it up now!
I don’t think anyone can have three other favorite things than food, books and internet. They are the BEST.
    Again, lovely post! ❤

    1. I’m so glad, Jas! Gordon really is the cutest, ahhh! But no, I am super ashamed of my dark past surrounding slime, because I wasted so much time and money on it!! Some slime videos are pretty satisfying though!
So true!!!! They really are the best ❤
      Thank you so much!

  4. Thank you so much for the tag! It was fun to read your answers. I agree completely with you about the community, it is one of the main reasons I keep blogging and like it so much. Books and the internet has been a great combination!

Looking forward to doing this tag 😊

  5. Hey, I don’t think it’s shallow at all to want to answer questions about yourself! I mean, if people are asking, you got to give the people what they want 😂.
Also, I completely get all your pet peeves 😤. I think a funny, but still annoying, spin on changing a right answer on a test is changing a wrong answer on a test to another wrong answer 😩.
It was fun getting to know you better, Caitlin! I LOVE that you dabbled in the slime world 😂.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. So true! It’s just so fun!
I agree, that is annoying. But changing the right answer will always 100% be more annoying to me, because you actually had the chance to get the point, but you ruined it for yourself 😞
I’m so glad! also, I’m very ashamed of my dark past, haha!

  6. “And of course, I sleep, because I can’t get stressed while I’m sleeping. 🙃” OKAY so this is the biggest mood ever ahah so relatable.
I loved reading your answers for these questions and I kind of agree with you about Q&A, there’s something so fun and… heartwarming about answering questions people asked you to and people wanting to know more about you ahha 🙂

  7. I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU HAD A SLIME ACCOUNT OMG CAITLIN I’M SCREAMING

and ahhh omg I HATE when people treat my anger (or any negative emotion tbh) like a joke, like hello?? I’m not kidding??? I’m serious??? please shut up and listen??

also the error image called me out ghfdgfhfgd (I had to write an icebreaker speech the other day and discovered that the only way I ever described myself was “disaster gay bookworm who hates writing bios” which is…. not helpful

    1. IRIS IT PAINS ME TO REMEMBER MY DARK PAST 😭😭

Yes!! It’s really annoying, especially because the more you get mad, the more they think you’re joking, so it makes you even more mad, and then the cycle just repeats.. People have done that to me in the past, and I still remember how angry they made me to this day 😂

OMG SAME!! I’m not that interesting!! Also talking about yourself is so awkward ugh

      Liked by 1 person

  8. I loved getting to know you more! 💖 I also very much relate to not relaxing, because am I ever truly calm? Probably not 😅 I also agree that the holy trinity is food, books, and the internet, that basically describes my life so well 🍰 📚
I still can’t get over the fact that you used to have a slime Instagram Account, that was very unexpected 😂

    Liked by 1 person

  9. oohhh I loved reading your answers and it was so fun!! This is a great tag (that is one my list to do!!)
I used to love wrap-ups too but now not so much. I think I’m actually going to stop doing them because they are a lot of work and pressured on time.
I always struggle when people ask what I like outside of books because it is literally just books. I don’t think that I’m that interesting. haha!!
It is great to hear you talk about your achievements because you deserve them so much. You and your blog are so wonderful!!! (honestly amazing)
I love that you had a slime Instagram account, I never had slime but it was satisfying to watch in it’s own way, haha!!
That gif of Gordon is so cute!! *cries*
Lovely post!!! I loved getting to know you more!! ❤

    1. Sophie, I’m so glad!! This really is a great tag, and I can’t wait to see your answers if you do it!
Aw, that’s gonna be a little sad, because I really love how you do your wrap-ups, but I do understand where you’re coming from! Idk, they’re kinda boring for me to do right now? I like that they function as journals of sorts, but I’m a little lazy to do them. I don’t know what changed about me, haha!
Yes!!! I’m literally not that interesting! I don’t know why people love to ask those what do you like other than __ questions 😂
Aw, thank you so, so much, Sophie! You too! You deserve all of your blog’s milestones and more!
Yeah, it’s satisfying, but ugh, I hate remembering my cringey slime days *shudders*
He is so cute ahh! ❤ ❤

  10. I see your people who answer rhetorical questions, and I raise you, people who ask obvious questions that they already know the answer to! It gets me SO frustrated. If I’m being totally honest, it’s mostly my little siblings who do this (which is why I’m allowed to be *extra* annoyed by it), but still.

And to use my younger siblings as a brilliant segue, slime is one of my least favorite things on the planet. Did I play with slime in elementary school too? Absolutely. But now that my little sister is doing it it’s like there’s a plague in our house. I find slime on EVERYTHING. My sheets. My clothes. My desk. Slime is my archnemesis and I vow to banish it from my home 😂

Also, yaaas. Q and A’s are super fun! And I absolutely adored reading this one 😉 Thanks for tagging us Caitlin!!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. True!! that is super annoying as well! but honestly, i do that sometimes just to clarify something, because i need to be extra sure 😂

I totally get that! that must’ve been how my sisters felt when I was still making and playing with slime! It really gets everywhere, and it’s sorta fun, but it’s also really messy, and it’ll cause problems if you don’t dispose of it soon and properly.

I can’t wait to read you guys’ answers if you do this! ❤

      Liked by 1 person

  11. Thanks for the tag, Caitlin!!! I’ve got to work on posting them all! And lol, my life is also incredibly boring and I’m sure I’ve already told everyone everything that is interesting about me.
Girl, same. I hate it when people answer an obviously rhetorical question! It’s just so annoying. Like really, do you have to answer? The reason I’m asking is because I’m already annoyed, I don’t need you to answer the very obvious question because it just makes me more irrationally upset. It’s hilarious to think about, but it’s also so annoying 😂
I actually…don’t like slime? Okay, that’s being lenient. I really hate slime. It makes me feel physically sick if I think about it too much lol. It may also be my siblings fault for getting it in the carpet and all over the house, and me having to clean it up all the time. Ugh 😫 It just gets everywhere and doesn’t disappear 😭

    1. You’re welcome, Rukky! And same, I have a super high backlog of pingbacks, and I don’t think I’ll ever finish it :”) Same!! Ugh I really hate it when people ask “what do you like other than ___” and I’m like, please stop assuming that I’m that interesting
OMG you explained why it’s so annoying so well!! Like, I asked the question because I was annoyed, there’s no need to irk me even more.
Oh, damn, you must really hate slime. But why you hate it is so understandable! This must’ve been how my sisters felt back when I still made slime! Slime is fun for a while, but it makes everything pretty messy. Also, I remember that sometimes slime goes bad 😷

  12. Thank you for the tag! I actually did this last year if you want to read my post! https://bookmarkyourthoughts.blog/2019/04/16/the-behind-the-blogger-book-tag-tags-awards/

I think it’s cool that you like Q&A style posts! They are a lot of fun, to be honest! FOOOOOOOD! That’s one of my favourite things as well! I love food … which is why I try to workout ha-ha! AND YOUR PUPPY IS SO CUTE I CAN’T HANDLE IT!!! ❤

"People who answer a rhetorical question with an actual, very obvious answer" … yup … those people … UGH! Seriously, that makes me CRINGE when people do that.

A slime account?!?! I don't this I was apart of this when I was in Grade 7. I'm almost 29 though so maybe this wasn't my generation ha-ha! Loved this post and reading your answers! ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Oh man, I’m really sorry for that! I suck at checking if people have already done/been tagged 😅 I checked your post out though, and it’s amazing, as always! You have such a great blogging voice ❤

Food is so good!!! It's really so sad that too much can be unhealthy, because if not, they would be the ULTIMATE gift! And I KNOW RIGHT, Gordon is so cute that I can't handle it! (He pees and poops everywhere and it's annoying and makes him slightly less cute tho lmao)

Yes! I think the reason I get so annoyed is because I asked a rhetorical question *because* I was annoyed, so the fact that they answered my question just to annoy me/ be dumb makes me even more annoyed!

I know some people who are currently in college who made it at the age that I did too 😂 But I think it's great that you missed the trend because though slime is satisfying at times, it can get super messy and they are SUCH wastes of time and money.
      Thank you so much, Jenna!

  13. i am the worst at answering things i’ve been tagged in during a timely manner too. i agree that the community is the reason i continue to blog as well. i’ve met wonderful and inspiring people here, and i’m glad i feel so welcomed here.
i love q&as too, no matter how shallow that may sound. they’re all so entertaining to read as well! i love getting to know bloggers apart from their reading interests.
this video is SO relaxing! i love AMSR too. i know a lot of people find it weird, but i love falling asleep to it. Ocean’s ASMR is my favorite ASMRist – even though i don’t love role-plays, hers always sound so natural to me and i love watching them a ton.
changing the right answer on a test is my biggest trauma. and it’s happened so many times, i should’ve learned to go with my intuition by now, but i second-guess everything.
AND THAT’S SO COOL YOU DID SLIME VIDEOS!!!!!#(!(!!!! i was never really into slime, but i love watching videos on instagram, and i’ve always thought it was pretty amazing how much effort people put into it. it may sound embarrassing for you now, but i think it’s pretty awesome.

    1. dw, I feel like almost everyone is and the small percentage of the population that IS great at doing tags are rare unicorns. and i feel like almost everyone stayed because of the community! literally can’t overstate how kind and welcoming everybody is ❤ (you're actually one of those people 😭)
I know right!! it was supposed to be like, a meme video, but i was focusing more on the asmr though lmao. i actually don't find it *that* stress-relieving, but i find watching them fun! I've never fully explored the world of asmr besides slime, but I've watched some role plays, and yeah, i agree they're not for me.
YES!! SO! MANY! TIMES! but i never learn!! and i really, really hate myself for it, because that one point could've gone such a long way.
haha, yeah, it is embarrassing now, but I'm happy that you think it's awesome :)) And yeah!! slime takes so much effort! (the effort i put into it was kinda wasted though, tbh.) but some slimers have actually earned TONS of money from slime, so the effort was worth it for them i guess!

  14. I love reading other people’s answers about themselves! It allows for a closer connection and it’s not shallow at all, most human beings like to talk about themselves (that’s a huge icebreaker, actually). I also LOVE eating (I just came from my lunch hour at the internship and it was vegan carbonara, and it was amazingly delicious!!) and watching ASMR videos. 😛

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Ah, I’m so glad! Makes me feel better about doing these posts, hihi 😅
Honestly, who doesn’t?? And I am very jealous of you right now!!! I freakin’ love carbonara!! (though I’ve never tried anything vegan in my entire life actually. maybe i should change that 🤔)

  15. Ahh, Caitlin, thank you so much for tagging me in this!! I think I may have done it at some point over the past few years, but I also think it might be time to return to it, since my answers have likely changed/my audience has also probably changed. I very much enjoyed reading all your answers for this! I agree, these posts are simultaneously incredibly fun to write and incredibly fun to read.✨
Your pet peeves have me realizing that these are actually kind of mine too, but I never realized until now. XD Picking the wrong answer on a test and then changing it at the last second and then realizing your original answer is right is honestly one of the worst feelings ever. And I somehow do that at least once on nearly every test, because I’m indecisive and always part to doubt myself as the timer is slowly getting to zero.
YOUR DOG IS ADORABLE, OH MY GOSH. That gif brought such a smile to my face, HI GORDON YOU ARE SO CUTE.🥺
Aww, I love reading about you being proud of yourself for all your blogging accomplishments because you’re amazing and they’re amazing and I’m proud of you and you deserve all the happiness and positivity and pride about it!!

    1. Oh, I’m sorry for the double tag! But I’d definitely read a Behind the Blogger Tag 2.0 from you!
I’m glad that you can relate to my pet peeves, haha! and UGH. I *always* change the right answer, and you’d think that I’d have learned by now, but I still haven’t. It’s especially frustrating when you did it last minute 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
I know, OH MY GOSH I LOVE GORDON SO MUCH. (even though he doesn’t love me. he hates going to me, haha!)
Ah, thank you so much 😭😭💖💖 same to you, Olivia! I hope you’re proud of your blog and yourself, because you 110% *deserve it*!
